Easy Access to Staff
– USQ Lecturers and staff can easily be reached by fax, e-mail or
post.

Orientation Meetings
– Orientation meetings are held in regional centers at the start of
each semester year. They give new or continuing students practical
advice on how to succeed in distance education study and are a good
way to meet other students and university staff.

Textbook – You can buy
new textbooks by mail order through the USQ Bookshop or second hand
textbook through the Student Association textbook trading post, which
is a list of students who are selling their used textbooks.

Study Package – the
study package is a week-by-week guide to the material you need to
cover in a unit. It will contain study notes and self-assessment exercises,
such as questions, activities and tests, to help you check your study
progress and understanding. It may also contain carefully chosen readings,
an audio tape or a computer disk with extra information.

Library Services – The
USQ Library offers a special service to distance education students
outside the Toowoomba area. University librarians can help you to
obtain reference materials for assignments, offer you advice on additional
reading materials. If you live in Australia, they can send you photocopies
of journals, newspapers, reference materials and articles from books.
You can contact the librarians by telephone, fax or mail and you will
also enjoy borrowing privileges from many other Universities.

Learning Circle – A
learning circle is an informal group of distance students living in
the same region and studying the same units who get together to brainstorm
new ideas, swap study tips, talk about assignments and prepare for
exams. We can help put you in touch with students to from a learning
circle.

Graduating – USQ organizes
graduation ceremonies in many locations throughout Australia and overseas,
as well as on campus in Toowoomba.
Study Package
A package is sent to the Local Support Office Hong Kong (Advanced Contemporary
Education Institute) at the beginning of each semester. The study package
is a week-by-week guide to the material you need to cover in that unit.
It will contain study notes and self-assessment exercises, such as questions,
activities and tests, to help you check your study progress and understanding.
Your package may also contain carefully chosen readings, an audio tape
or a computer disk with extra information.
Alternatively, USQ now offers a number of courses or units, which are
delivered solely or partly or alternatively on the Internet (World Wide
Web).
Assessment
The way you are assessed for a grade varies or each unit. Details are
provided in your study package. To complete each unit, you usually have
to send in several assignments or report by scheduled due dates completed
assignments are returned to you with a grade and helpful comments to further
assist your learning.
